Optical illusion l I made one?!

Today for Summer Learning Journey (2020SLJ), I did optical illusion.

First, I looked on the video, so I could get information and learn about the optical illusion, I also watched the video to know how to make one.

After, I started making my optical illusion, I chose it to make it in squares, I first changed the color of the background into black, and then made the boxes into transparent squares so you can see the black through  it.

I enjoyed creating this, and had fun learning about a optical illusion, I also liked how the optical illusion looks kind of cool!

I carried on being active for the Summer Learning Journey (SLJ) today, our activity today was Te Reo Maori "what are you doing today?".

Firstly, I went on the Summer Learning Blog to see what to do for this activity.

After, I did my sixth slides, the first one was to figure out the three Te Reo Maori words in the sentence, the second slide was to put the sentence all together, the third and fourth slides was "where are you", and the last 2 was to answer the questions of "where are you".

Later, I watched the "prouncing different Te Reo Maori alphabets", I followed along prouncing the alphabets so I can learn them.

I enjoyed doing this activity, I am also happy that I got to learn different Maori words, and figure out the words for the sentences.

Kowhaiwhai Pattern l Tanerore

I have completed a new Summer Learning Journey task today, the task was called "Tanerore", this SLJ task is part of a maori story about "the son of Tama-nui-te-ra".

First, I figured out what to do, and also learnt about the Tanerore before creating something, we watched a video, and read something.

After, I finished watching the video and reading the information about Tanerore, I started creating a Koru pattern, we also changed our background color into a sunset.

This activity was fun since I got to learn about it, create it, and share it, but I think next I could use different patterns and rotation except of two.

Insect Art l Summer Learning Journey

We carried on doing Summer Learning Journey today. Todays task was to create a insect using leaves, petals, and twigs.

First, I thought about what insect I should do, I chose to do a butterfly using sticks, flowers, and leaves.

After I went outside and found the stuff I needed to make my creation (the insect).

Later, I made my insect, I cutted some holes in my leave to put some flowers and sticks in, I also put the wings with leaves.

I enjoyed making this creation and thought it was fun, I also enjoyed making the flowers and wings. The name I chose for my insect is Fowal since I am getting the first letter of each of my closest friends.

We carried on doing Summer Learning Journey (SLJ) this week, I comment threaded on Mercy today.

A comment thread is a conversation that can help give detail about you and other, it can give questions, feelings, and welcome (e.g: hi, kia ora, hola, etc).

First, I looked on the Summer Learning Journey blog, I went on the blog and saw the video giving information on how to quality comment.

Fishing False Teeth l SLJ

We have done a new task today for the Summer Learning Journey, it was called Fishing False Teeth.

First, we read the article and understand what we needed to do for this activity, we also watched the video of the fishing false teeth.

After, we did our first template, we did this to understand who they are, what part are they in the story, and what was the outcome for them.

Later, we did the comic, for the comic you imagine what the people are saying.

I enjoyed doing this activity, but I thought the comics were kind of complicated since I had to write it in my own words.

Summer Learning Journey l Scavenger Hunt

Recently we started the Summer Learning Journey's first task, this task was a scavenger hunt.

The Summer Learning Journey new theme and name is "Celebrating Summer", Summer Learning Journey can help create more knowledge.

First, we gathered into our inquiry groups, and waited until we can start the scavenger hunt. While we waited we watched the video from Nanogirl's lab.

Later we started the scavenger hunt, we had to find different objects on the list and record/take a photo of them.

I enjoyed doing this acitvity, but I think next time I should be looking at different places instead of only one workspace.

Presenting l Inquiry

My group and I have presented our script.

We all practised our lines and script before we present it.

Then we said out script, with the script we needed the presentation open, and we need to remember the words that we say.

Later, we got our feedback, we got feedback on what was good, and the things that does not make senses and what we need to work on more.

My group and I did not get the contract eventually, but the feedback my group and I got was that if the hexagon rolls over it can hurt you because, we are using stainless steel as one of our materials. The other feedback I got was that I could use another word instead of discovering, I think next time I should memorize my lines.

Reading Strategies l Cloth Activity

There are many reading comprehension strategies that can help understanding when reading, e.g. making connections, predicting, inferring, summarising, prior knowledge.

Reading strategies that can be used before reading are, inferring, and prior knowledge, inferring is when you find out what happens next using all the proof you have already.

Reading strategies that can be used while reading are predicting, and visualising, visualising is when you create a picture in your mind about what happened.

Reading strategies that can be used after reading are questioning, and summarising, summarising is when you give the main points and information from what happened in the book.

There are many reading strategies that can be useful for all, while reading, before reading, and after reading.

Filming l Narratives

We recorded our film for my groups narrative. We used Fotu's film. Fotu's film was explaining how working can sometimes get into arguements and disagreements.

First, the people in the film practised their scenes in the film, and they learnt their lines.

Then, my group and I started filming the scenes, I was the one filming with the camera.

I enjoyed having the opportunity to film the video, but I think next time I should improve on the camera movements.

LI: To film a screenplay

Quiz Results l Who won?

Recently, we have made different quizzes to test our partners knowledge and see what questions that they should work on more, we have also been tested on different math equations.

First, I started with my first quiz from Chisa, the first quiz came up to twenty questions that uses addition, subtractions, mutiplication, and divison. The score and time I got was four minutes and fourty-seven seconds, and my score was twelve out of twenty points.

After, I started on my second quiz from Chisa, the second quiz came up to fifteen questions and they used, measurement, time, money, statistics, fractions, and geomtry. My score was ten out of fifteen questions that were correct.

I enjoyed answering each questions, and finding out where I am at for my knowledge. But next time I think I should improve on the questions Chisa gave me.

Summer Learning Journey l Teaser Week

The Summer Learning journeys is a progamme that can help you be active while summer, every year represents a new theme and name that can also come with different activies. The summer learning journey also helps create new knowledge and information about different sources.

We recently did our kick start activity to understand the definitons of the theme, name, and what the Summer Learning Journey means this year.

The kick start activity uses a colouring book, and you get the option to colour anything in the art peice, there is a limit of 16 colors, the coloring pad has access to draw quickly when you press somewhere on the art peice.

I think the kick start activity is a good way to colour, and enjoying the reason of colouring, you also get to have the options of colors which also is fun.

Towns l North Island

This week we carried on learning the different meanings of the towns in the North Island.

First, we answered the questions, "he aha te ra apopo" (what is the date tommorow?), "he aha te huarere" (whats the weather?), and "ko wai o hoa" (who are your friends?).

Afterwards we searched up the different towns in the North Island, we could not use the Maori Dictionary and instead used Google.

Later, we marked our work and saw which of them were right and which of the words and their meanings are wrong.

I had fun during this acitvity, but next time I think I should not make any mistakes.
