Basic Facts Boxes l Maths

This week, I did basic facts boxes, my timer went up to 3m 17s for my mutiplications: 2, 5, 10, and 3, I liked my timer, but next time I would like a time under 3m or 2m.

SSR Selfie l Gruffalo

This week for SSR Selfie, I did the story "the gruffalo".

SSR selfie talks about what happens in the book, what the title is, illustrater, author, main characters, and things you like about the story.

The story "the gruffalo", talks about a mouse describing how a gruffalo looks to predators so he wont be eaten, he did not believe that there was a gruffalo until he found one.

For the past 4-5 weeks, we learnt about the story, also movie "the gruffalo".

I enjoyed this activity, since I got to learn about the mouse's inspiration of how a gruffalo looks.

LI - To summarise a text.

Safety Plan l Inquiry

This week for inquiry, my group and I did a saftey plan for smores (the fire and food).

First we chose a spot for the locations, amount of helper, and amount of students, e.g: 36 students are 4 helpers, and 50 students are 50 helpers.

Second, we started with the fire plan, we found differents consquences, hazards, and risks, and made a emergency plan.

Later, we did the smores one, and we found different things that can happened while cooking a marshmellow, or making a smore.

This fire & saftey plan, made me learn alot about fire.

LI - to access and conduct a real life scenario.

Gruffalao l Art Collab

For the past 4-5 weeks, we were learning for art about "the gruffalo", And we rematched the colors to make our own art for it.

Firstly, we got taught how to blend/mix colors properly, from a sheet of paper.

Then, we practiced how to blend colors on our own using crayons, for example: Blue & white, green & white, dark blue & pastel blue, etc.

Later on, we all began to do our good sheet of paper, each group worked together discussing what colors do use and blend.

This art was unbelievely perfect, since everybody collabrated with eachother to make it fabulous.

LI: to know how to blend colours with pastels.
LI: to collaborate with others to finish a group art piece.

Writing l Daily Routine

This week for writing, we explained how a routine in a day is.

First I listed some of the things that could/would happened in a day of mine, e.g: shower, brush teeth, eat breakfast, call, etc.

Secondly, I chose 4 events that happens to me they are: before school, at school, after school, and after dinner.

After that, I wrote about each events into making a recount of what happens on my usual fridays.

LI - Write a recount of your day.

Governing Topics l Reading.

Governing Topic's, or policies are actions that political parties want to put into actions to get power

Health means something keeping good hygiene like, brush your teeth, brush your hair, wash your hands, etc. It is also somebodys well-being.

Education is important to me, because you get the opportunity to learn new things, and it can educate you more, find new friends, do art, and more!

There are 13 topics and they are: transport & infrastructure, education, health, enconomy, defence & foreign affairs, borders & migration, community & inlusion, enviroment, housing, te ao maori, income and employment, law justice and goverment, media, culture, and recreation.

If I vote one day, I will be picking education and health, since those are the TWO important topics to me.

LI - To choose important governing topics by summarising all topics.

Basketball l Maths.

Rounding is a strategy in maths. That can help understand addition and division.

We used rounding on a activity, the activity was bouncing a basketball 50 times, and repeating it 5 times.

Rounding mean to circle the nearest ten, hundreds, thousands, etc.

Round to the nearest ten can help with division, there is down ↓ and up ↑ the down numbers are 1,2,3,4, and the up numbers are 5,6,7,8,9.

Division is when you share to make it equal, for example 4 donuts, the correct answer is 2, because 2 ÷ 1 = 2, and 2 + 2 = 4.

Addition (+), can help with adding numbers, for example 5 + 5 = 10, how I know?, if you put 5 fingers, and add another 5 it is 10!

Each activity, basketball, skipping, paperplance, and ping pongs are all physical activity's, that can help investigate time.

Rounding is a skill in maths, that can help understand different equations.

LI - to investigate units of time.

Rewriting l Writing

Rewriting is a task that changes half, some, etc, of the story, and give your own idea's.

The part's I changed are the gruffalo, into peppa pig, and some of the scripts and scenes.

I have also gave new ideas for the character's looks, e.g I changed : pink dress, pink tail, pink horns, etc.

The story I changed scenes, and scripts was from "the gruffalo".

The story "the gruffalo", talks about animals wanting to eat a little brown mouse, but the little brown mouse considered to describe how a gruffalo looks to run away from them, but then he seems to believe that the gruffalo is real, when he bumps into him.

Rewriting a story, narrative, movie, etc, can help understand what comes from your mind.

LI - To rewrite a narrative.

Making connections.

There are 3 connections, text to self, text to text, and text to world.

Text to self is something making connection on something similar, that happened in the book and has also happened to you.

Text to text means something in the story, that is similar to something that happened in another story.

Text to world is something in the book, that can happen in the world.

The 3 connections can help with the inferring reading stategies.

LI - To identify and describe connections.

Character traits l Facts and opinions

I learnt how to create a character trait & fact and opinion.

First I started with facts & opinions, facts talk about information that actually took place, opinions infer by using a fact.

After I did character trait, a character trait user adjective+verb, it explains the feeling about the person, animal, etc.

Then, I carried on with the other character traits they are. fox, snake, owl, and mouse.

Facts and opinions, and character trait can help Fthe understanding of what is in the book.

LI - To infer.

Setting description. l Explaination.

A setting descriptions explains the smells like, sounds like, looks like, and feels like.

The setting description is from "the gruffalo".

The setting description could use similies "like" or "as", for example - as rough as a rock, it is Like tree, etc.

If you describe the sound it should explain the noise level it is at, for example - loud, silent, mute, etc.

The smell should explain about the character scent,or their surronding thats gives scent.

Looks describe how the object from the picture, for example : flower, tea cup, water, lake, etc.

Feels describe the objects texture, for example - hard, bumpy, sharp, etc.

Smell, look, sound, and feels helps the reader understand the setting.

By describing the smell, the look, the sound, and the feel of a setting, it helps the reader understand more about where the story takes place.

LI - to write a setting description

Inquiry l Low, Likely, Possible, Evalutad, and extreme.

This week we learnt about risks.

We rated situations on low risk, likely risk, possible risk, evaluated risk, and extreme risk. Low is In most cases are risks that can be  avoided by common sense. Likely in most cases can be avoided by common sense with application of skill. Possible are Risks that are contained by application of safety procedures. Evaluated is something that safety procedures only limit some danger. Extreme is something that out number the safety procedures and danger that is about to happen.

Later we wrote our own situations that match each risk level.

Low, Likely, possible, evaluated, and extreme, all describe different levels of risk.

LI - To access likelihood.

LI - To access consequences.a

Time

Mean is something that adds all the numbers up, and divides it by the amount.

Median organizes the numbers from least to greatest, and selects the number that is in the middle, you can divide by 2 if there are more than one middle number.

Mode organizes the numbers from least to greatest, and determines the popular number (the number that appears the most times).

Mode, median, and mean all can help with math strategies.

LI - To investigate units of time.

Hazards & Risk l the nano's

My group and I did inquiry this week, for this task we found some hazards for example - Swimming pool, coffee, sanitizer, etc.

We had to find risks to match our hazards, risk and hazards have something slightly different about eachother.

First, we founded hazards for school, community, home, and sport.

Then, we explained each hazard using a risk, the risk should be about the hazard.

Later we moved onto each category.

Hazards are a type of risk, or something dangerous, it can also be a method that can be hard to do.

A risk is a situation involving danger, it can be something harmful.

Risk and hazards are really important.

LI - to demonstrate prior knowledge.

Character Descriptions.

A character description gives people information about appearance, experience and personality.

Appearance gives information about what the face, hair, body and clothes look like.

Experience gives information about where they live, who their family and friends are, their special interests, hobbies or talents, and their secrets or special achievements.

Personality gives information about what kind of person they are, how they behave, what do they say and what makes them interesting or different.

Character description can explain how they look, and more.

LI - to explain what a character description is.

Visualizing

Visualizing is a reading strategies, it is something you picture though it comes from your head, and you get it from the things you hear.

The gruffalo uses the reading strategies, though it comes in different orders. It talks about a mouse, owl, snake, and fox, and the mouse is visualizing what the gruffalo looks, but in his head.

A nogard?, a nogard is another reading strategies. It can help us visualize what it looks like in our heads. If you spell "nogard" backwards it would come with "dragon.

Visualizing can help us picture something from our head, if you would visualize it would come with different pictures, and drawings from anybody else. It is also a great reading tool you could use.

LI - To visualize parts of the story.
