Metaphors are a comparision between two things, that have a similar trait. They also say that one object is the other.
One example for a metaphor is: Wairaka is a thorn on my side. The main object is Wairaka, the comparison object is the thorn, and the meaning is that Wairaka is very annoying.
Another example is that: Fala is a chicken. The main object is Fala, the comparison is the chicken, and the meaning is that Fala is scared of many things.
Another example is: Oninesha is a shining star. The main object is Oninesha, the comparision is the shining star, and the meaning is that she has a bright personality.
Metaphors can help define things.
