There are 3 kinds of ways/strategies you can use to explain time!, 24 hours, digital, analogue.
In 24 hours after 1:00PM it starts with 13, and goes up to 24, in the 24 hour clock there is AM and PM, the hour comes first, then minutes, and next seconds, using AM it looks like - 09:35, so it often starts with 0.
In Analogue if the minute hand points at 6 it means 30 minutes has passed, if it is pointing at the 9 45 minutes has passed, analogue can tell how many minutes has/have passed.
In digital time we often read in o'clock, it is also easy to read digital time because we can just read through the numbers!
Time was invented in 1923, March 3rd. In ancient egypt!

Metaphor l Writing
Metaphors are a comparision between two things, that have a similar trait. They also say that one object is the other.
One example for a metaphor is: Wairaka is a thorn on my side. The main object is Wairaka, the comparison object is the thorn, and the meaning is that Wairaka is very annoying.
Another example is that: Fala is a chicken. The main object is Fala, the comparison is the chicken, and the meaning is that Fala is scared of many things.
Another example is: Oninesha is a shining star. The main object is Oninesha, the comparision is the shining star, and the meaning is that she has a bright personality.
Metaphors can help define things.

Cook Island DLO
This week was Cook Island Language Week! O'Ninesha and Me did a DLO of numbers in cook island.
Cook Island language can be similar to the maori language, for example - Rua, Toru, Rima, etc.
I took a video of me counting in the cook island language.
Cook Island language is a very special language to be speaking!
I enjoyed this DLO so much, because I have got taught/learnt a new language to speak when counting numbers.

Venn Diagram
Similarities and Difference can be found in a text, one way you can spot them is you can use it by a venn diagram to spot the difference and the similar things in each text, t he book "Dinner Family" and "Space Food" has many similarties and difference.
Dippy Family talks about messy eaters and how they combine food to make meals.
Space food is also talking about eaters and explains about space, facts, etc.
The similarities of both books is that they both talk about messy eating, they both are fiction, they also relate to the food sources, and more
Comparing and contrasting can help define what the different is and what is related to eachother.

Swimming / Session 2
Today I practised my water safetey skills at the Lagoon pools!
The first skill I practised was gliding.
Then I practised to go through the hoop, we have to put our face in the water, put our arms out, and have a straight body.
Lastly I practised to do floating from back to front/ front to back, we also rotated front to back. To do this method I have to put my face in the water, roll body, and continue kicking.
Then we arm stroked, and played a game of trying to get the toy from the pool ground, you will need to jump.
I got better at putting my face in the water, but I need to improve at not kicking hard.
LI - to develop knowledge of water safety.

Simile
Similes are a comparison of two things using "like" or "as...as"
"Like" similes can compare to an action/doing word, e.g. she can run like the wind.
"As... as" compares to an describing word, e.g. she is as slow as the sun.
Similes can help describe objects or actions in an intersting way.
