Kupe and Cook are 2 important explorers in New Zealand history.
Kupe arrived in NZ in the 1100's. He travelled by traditional method's on a traditional sail to oat. Myth has it he followed a giant octopus. he did this voyage to find new land for his people to live his wife names NZ Aoteraroa after seeing mountains under the cloud.
Cook came to Aoteraroa in 1769 6 October, he wanted to map New zealand. His navigater Tupaia came with him.
Kupe is important because he was the first documented person in NZ.
Cook is important because he mapped NZ and opened it up to the world to access.
